Match CF280 to the M401/M425 generation
Keep CF280A or CF280X with the complete M401 or M425 model. A shortened ‘LaserJet 400’ description is not enough to confirm the correct replacement.
The original standard benchmark shown here follows HP’s current 2,560-page listing; older printer literature gives 2,700 pages. Ask for the proposed compatible cartridge’s own quoted yield, or an original if required, when comparing capacities.
Replacing toner or another supply?
Send the exact warning or a description of the print defect. A toner enquiry alone does not establish which component is causing marks, streaks or fading.
